Introducing DACport LX and a special offer

Postby Jonathan on Wed Jun 15, 2011 3:30 pm

DACport LX is similar to our award-winning DACport and is designed for those people who prefer to use an external rather than a built-in headphone amplifier. DACport and DACport LX both use our advanced 24/96 USB driver-less technology and JitterGuard(tm) jitter elimination algorithm. Both are powered from the USB port. DACport LX is an ideal USB DAC for using with an external power amplifier or a set of powered speakers. DACport LX features a line-level output calibrated to +6dBV level.

For a limited time, CEntrance will offer DACport LX at special price. Take a whopping $50 off DACport LX if you purchase between now and July 4th. That’s 15% off — a great way to celebrate America’s 235th birthday! But there is one more condition. We are only making 50 pcs available at this low introductory price. Once the first 50 pcs are sold, or once July 4th is upon us (whichever comes first) the special price will end and DACport LX will go back to its normal price.

Hi there Jonathan,

I have recently acquired a Dacport LX, and I use it with a Violectric V100 Headphone amplifier. The other day, just out of curiosity, I plugged my headphones directly in to the Dacport LX, and I was surprised by how loud it manages to get with my 32 Ohm Grados, my 72 Ohm Ultrasones or my 62 Ohm AKGs.

I usually listen to music in the tranquility of my home, where I can concentrate, but I also travel a lot. Is it OK to use the Dacport LX as a portable DAC while on the go? I know the line out has been set to 6 dBV, but I don't know the output impedance of the LX or if this use can ultimately cause any damage to the LX. I also don't know the impedance of the LX. Is it 10 Ohm like it's stated in the specs?

Thanks in advance for your help on these issues.

The output impedance is 10 ohms.

No, you won't damage your headphones.

Really happy you are enjoying your DACport LX!!!!

:)

Let me know how else I can help.

Hi again Jonathan,

Thanks a lot for your quick response. My original question was really if the Dacport LX could be damaged by using is directly with headphones; it's not the use it was intended for so that is my worry. I know from your answer that my headphones won't sustain any damage, and that's good since they sound great directly from the LX's output.

Thanks again

Hi Camilo,

DACport LX won't be damaged by connecting headphones to it. Personally, I would be more concerned with a person's hearing, because there is no volume control on DACport LX. Of course, you can control the volume in the media player, if necessary, but please be careful. :)

Hi David,

Thanks for your answer.

No worries, I'm not one of those who like high listening volumes. I listen in a very quiet environment and I never need to go to even half the volume. For me it's all about the music, the more the environment the better.

Cheers!
