Setting up the CEntrance Universal Driver, 32-bit or 64-bit

1. Download the Universal Driver from http://www.CEntrance.com/downloads
2. Unzip and run the UD 7.4.2 installer. Version 7.4.2 is compatible with 32 and 64-bit OSes.
3. When installer is finished, connect MicPort/AxePort/DACport/DACmini, and wait a moment for it to finish finding the new hardware.
Note: skip step 3 if you plugged-in your audio device prior to step 2.
4. Open the CEntrance Audio Driver Control Panel from the UD icon in the system tray. (Located near the tray clock)
5. Select your device on the right and select the sample rate (via drop-down menu). Make sure your audio software is set to the same sample rate.

If using Vista with software that is not compatible with ASIO, see this page, or scroll down. Audacity, for example, is not compatible with ASIO.

Adobe Audition 3.0

(If any Audition 3.0 users can provide more detailed instructions, please PM or email me.)

1. Install CEntrance Universal Driver; see Setting up the CEntrance Universal Driver above. This will give you the ASIO driver, which is superior to the Windows Plug-n-Play driver.

2. Go to http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/408/kb408729.html for instructions on how to setup Audition 3.0.

3. In "Choosing a Driver", be sure to pay attention to the Note in step 2.

4. "Configuring an ASIO driver" is where you open Universal Driver and set MicPort/AxePort/DACport sample rate.

If you are using Vista, http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/402/kb402764.html may also be helpful.

Hi, Guys -

OK, I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed when it comes to technicals, so I could use some advice. First, I love my MicPortPro, so I decided to use it with my brand new PC - 64-bit Windows 7. I've been experiencing a lot of skips and stutters upon recording. I downloaded the latency test software for MicPortPro (I use Audition 3.0 - and have the latest patch) BUT I was once warned by an audio tech never to check the "Release ASIO Driver" box in Audio Hardware Setup. Any advice would be most appreciated.

Vista

Vista instructions, assuming you want a sample rate of 48000...

1. Close all audio applications.
2. Install our Universal Driver (UD) - see above post.
3. Open UD and set MicPort's sample rate to 48000 Hz. Close.
4. Right-click the speaker icon in the Vista system tray (near the clock)
5. Select Recording Devices.
6. Highlight CEntrance USB Audio. Click the Properties button (or right click and select Properties).
7. Click Advanced tab.
8. Change Default Format to "1 channel, 16bit, 48000 Hz (DVD Quality)" OR "1 channel, 24bit, 48000 Hz (Studio Quality)". click Ok.
---See the difference here? 16bit vs. 24bit. It is up to you, depending on your work flow and end result (deliverable).

9. Click the Playback tab. Repeat steps 6-8. Vista's Recording and Playback format settings should be identical, especially sample rate (e.g., 48000 Hz).
10. Click Ok.
11. Open your favorite audio recording application, tell it you want the CEntrance ASIO driver, and set the sample rate to 48000 Hz.
12. Done.

Note the fundamental order:
A - set sample rate in UD
B - set Vista sample rate
C - set sample rate in audio recording application.

If you need to change sample rate, you need to go through A-C (steps 3-12 above). Steps 6-9 are a "feature" exclusive to Vista.

Skype

Skype generally is plug-n-play, but if you have problems we recommend installing our Universal Driver (see 3rd post in this thread) so that you can match sample rates to 44.1k or 48k.
