Chicago, IL - March 20th, 2007 - CEntrance, Inc., for years a leading
design consultancy to the biggest pro audio manufacturers today announced
a CEntrance-branded hardware product: MicPort 24/96 USB Mic Preamp.
MicPort is the first in new a line of portable USB products from CEntrance.
The tubular device plugs into any XLR microphone and instantly transforms
it into a recording device. MicPort is ideal for recording podcasts, vocals
or musical instruments in the home studio, or on the road. Developed also
for portable use, MicPort is housed in a rugged aluminum chassis and offers
high-end pro audio features such as a low-noise preamp, 48V phantom power,
zero-latency monitoring, and a stereo headphone jack.
MicPort's high-quality A/D converter delivers 24-bit 96-kHz performance
under OS X and Windows, including Vista. No driver installation
is required - the product is ready to record in just seconds after being
plugged into the computer. Analog controls are available for microphone
gain and stereo headphone level, making MicPort the smallest and most
convenient 24-bit 96-kHz professional-quality USB recording interface.
"CEntrance understands microphones with several of us having worked
at Shure, Inc.," notes Sean Parnell, Director of Marketing at CEntrance.
"We combined our pro audio USB expertise with our knowledge of microphone
technology to make MicPort a professional recording solution for the home
studio and the road."
The device is powered from USB and does not require an external power
supply or batteries. Because it uses standard USB software drivers, MicPort
is compatible with most popular recording software such as Apple's GarageBand
for Mac and Cakewalk's Sonar for Windows.
