Chicago, IL - February 15, 2007 - CEntrance Inc., a leader in pro audio
technology, added a high profile client to its already extensive client
roster today. Benchmark Media Systems of Syracuse, NY is the first licensee
of CEntrance's advanced USB interface technology, which is natively compatible
with both OS X™ and Windows™. Known for the pristine audiophile quality
of their products, Benchmark turned to CEntrance for help in developing
a professional quality, 24-bit 96-kHz USB solution for their flagship
DAC1 product.
The new, USB-enabled DAC1 offers both audiophile performance and easy
setup. The product does not require installation of any custom drivers,
offering a level of simplicity previously not possible for products in
this category of quality. CE1706, the CEntrance USB microphone reference
design served as the backbone for the USB audio solution.
"We worked with driver teams at Apple and Microsoft to make sure that neither OS resampled the audio on its way to the DAC", notes Michael Goodman, Managing Director of CEntrance. "This way we could avoid the audible artifacts of sample rate conversion, at all sample rates and bit depths. The resulting audiophile-quality solution performs equally well on OS X and current flavors of Windows, including Vista."
"The DAC1 USB is the only PC audio interface device that is fully satisfactory; in terms of bit-accuracy, sample-rate, and word-length performance," added Allen Burdick, President of Benchmark Media Systems, "it's intuitive, it's easy - it's USB audio done right."
"We conducted stringent audio-quality tests on four different operating systems using a variety of audio playback applications", noted John Siau, Director of Engineering at Benchmark Media Systems. "Other design firms told us that we were asking for the impossible, but CEntrance delivered an advanced USB solution that met all of our exacting specifications."
CEntrance is a proven leader in audio product design. From Alesis to Zoom,
audio companies select CEntrance for quality, timeliness and value. The
company's lowest latency audio drivers are compatible with the majority
of FireWire audio chips. Drivers and reference designs are available for
USB, FireWire, PCI, and Ethernet solutions. Please call 847-581-0500 for
