Last Wednesday, a CEntrance engineer saved a parrot. Nick Kolev, who
rescued the bird, is a hardware engineer and an accomplished tree climber.
The parrot escaped from a pet store near Nick's home and faced an almost
certain demise in the claws of a cat, raccoon, or other four-legged creature
that roams the Chicago suburbs at night. To prevent the bird's untimely
departure, Nick bravely scaled the tree where the parrot hid, snatched
the bird from its perch, and descended, fearless of the branches. As onlookers
breathed a sigh of relief, Nick returned the tropical bird to its grateful
owner.
"At first, I simply thought the parrot was stupid. It could have
flown away from me, but it didn't," said Nick when interviewed for
the story. "Perhaps it knew that had it flown straight into the claws
of a predator, it would already be pushing up the daisies; that parrot
would be no more!"
In addition to watching Monty
Python, Nick designs high-quality audio equipment at CEntrance and
is a rock drummer with a big heart.
