On Thursday, CEntrance announced the formation of its Sound Design Division
with the release of a large custom set of polyphonic ring tones for a
cell phone manufacturer. The comprehensive set of ring tones was developed
for Flarion, Inc., an emerging manufacturer of broadband cellular phone
equipment.
All sounds were performed, recorded or synthesized digitally at the modern
recording studio facilities at CEntrance. The set included classical and
popular music pieces for use as ring tones, as well as a group of shorter
tones for internal alerts such as "low battery", "charger
plugged in", "calculator result", and other sounds related
to the broadband communications experience.
"CEntrance relied on its experience in ergonomics and human factors
to develop sounds that corresponded precisely to the physical dimensions,
surface texture and overall design language of the phone", noted
Michael Goodman, Managing Director of CEntrance. "This resulted in
a unified, congruent consumer experence."
Flarion's new product represents the next step in mobile communications,
offering uninterrupted access to high-quality broadband services in a
device the size of a standard cellular phone. The product was announced
during CTIA in Atlanta, GA, March 22-24, at the Georgia World Congress
Center.
