The fall is approaching and what better way to mark the occasion than
by whipping up an up-tempo, bebop-flavored version of "Autumn Leaves"!
Or, should it be "On The Sunny Side of the Street"? One way
or another, the Chuck Vergan trio, featuring CEntrance's own Michael Goodman
on bass, is working again this fall. Booked to play at a suburban Chicago
steakhouse, the band will once again delight listeners with its unique
blend of traditional and modern jazz, up-tempo fusion, and funky blues.
Rounding up the group are Chuck Vergan (guitar) and Leonard York (keys).
The trio invites everyone to come out and enjoy good food and music in
the company of friends.
The Chuck Vergan Trio can be heard live every Wednesday and Saturday
night through New Year's Eve at the Black Ram, 1414 Oakton St. in Des
Plaines, IL. For more information or to make a reservation call the restaurant
at 847-824-1227.
When asked if the demanding gig will interfere with his work, Michael
responded: "This is work. Even though I enjoy making music, playing
a steady gig has a direct benefit to CEntrance as well. When you are called
upon to play three long sets in a row with short breaks, your main focus
is on the performance. You can't afford to have the sound system go intermittent,
your setup has to be invisible. In this pressure cooker environment, you
come to realize how much musicians and audio engineers depend on solid
gear that is easy to use. We are constantly reminded of the urgency to
produce uncompromising designs, which is reflected in the products we
develop for our customers."
The trio's demo recording in MP3 format is available here.
The playing time is 12 minutes, file length: ~12Mb.
