Michael Goodman, Managing Director of CEntrance Inc., will chair a panel
discussion entitled "The Future of Communication Standards: USB 2.0
and FireWire" at the 115th Audio Engineering Society Convention
Oct. 10-13, 2003 in New York City.
USB 2.0 and FireWire are the two emerging standards for connecting
audio and peripheral devices to a computer. While each has its own benefits,
both standards are vying for the attention of device makers and consumers
in an effort to grab mind and market share.
The panel will feature technology experts who are making informed decisions
on which standard to include in their latest designs on a daily basis.
They'll discuss the pros and cons of the two standards and analyze their
value from the standpoint of cost, industry acceptance, technical characteristics
and interoperability. The discussion will address marketing and technical
issues of interest to end users and equipment manufacturers alike.
The panelists will include: Mathew Mora, Multimedia Driver Engineer at
Apple Computer, Inc., Klaus Buchheim, Product Manager at BridgeCo AG,
and John Broadhead, VP New Applications at Edirol Corporation. The panel
will be held on Oct. 12th at 1:30 p.m. at the Jacob K. Javits Convention
Center in NYC. Click here

This panel discussion is a timely event for CEntrance, which will be
introducing its new reference designs for USB 2.0 and FireWire at
the show. The designs, which are available for OEM licensing, include
everything audio manufacturers need to quickly design the appropriate
interfaces into their products.
